Why use Sladden and Barton Residential Surveyors?
I have put together a small note as to why I believe that you should use our services.
My name is Ian Birdsey and this is my company, sladden and barton residential surveyors.
I am a truly independent surveyor, who has passed assessments and exams to be able to provide you with a high-quality residential survey. I only conduct one survey a day so that I am not rushing and clock watching worrying about where else I have to be. This allows me to assess the property and report what I find for you.
I am registered with RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) and the RPSA (Residential Property Surveyors Association) and have clear DBS police checking to an enhanced level, I have also passed security clearance in the past. I have a MSc in Building Surveying and complete many hours of CPD each year.
I am an Associate (AssocRICS) member of the RICS. I still work to and maintain the same standards and ethics as any other member who may be a chartered surveyor.
I am a registered valuer with the RICS.
My wife, Karen, is the other director of the company and is the only other person in the office. Karen is in charge of the office admin and accounts and works with me to complete the desktop research aspect of the surveys and occasionally comes out on surveys with me as an extra pair of hands when needed.
When you call our office you will speak to either myself or my wife, we do not use a call centre to divert our calls to. If we are out we will always return your phone call if you leave a message, usually the same day, we also respond to emails.
My report, depending upon which level you choose, always includes photos, descriptions about the property in different aspects and what you should do next (level 3 only). Each report is written for you by myself, not someone else. We use a “portal” on our website for your report which gives you full access to it for 12 months from the report date.
I am representing you and your investment within a property, I have no hesitation in calling a client and advising them not to proceed during a survey if I find something serious enough to cause you problems in the future unless you are specifically buying a “doer-upper”, even then I will still report accordingly for you.
My fee is just a very small investment into your future home and as such can save you many times my fee in helping you and advising you what is required to be done, both before you purchase the property and once you have purchased it.
We may never be the cheapest surveyor, but we charge according to what time and issues we are likely to face based upon our experience of both surveys and renovating properties. It is not a good practice to be the cheapest and running around doing loads of surveys and getting things wrong, it is far better to price the survey properly and complete the report properly without rushing it.
Thank you for reading this and Karen and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
