Sladden and Barton Ltd is a small family run surveying business in Towcester, Northamptonshire.

We have developed the business following many years success in Property Photography and Domestic Energy Assessments.

We started trading back in 1998, and have been going ever since, the only things that have stopped us is the Corona Virus and Snow. Since we started trading we have worked with some amazing people and companies, including The Virgin Airship and Balloon Company, on its round the world attempt, BAe Systems, 3Com (now part of HP), and have worked in some amazing places such as Harrods and the BBC.

After spending nearly two years re-training to be a competent and reliable Residential Surveyor, training with SAVA, the only company which allows its successful graduates of its Level 6 Diploma course direct entry into RICS. RICS is the world-renowned institution for Surveyors around the globe. A further two and a quarter years have now been spent in obtaining a MSc in Building Surveying.

Ian provided me with an extremely in depth survey including using drone photography, highlighting the many issues with a Victorian property I was going to buy. I was aware of some of the issues already but am so glad I had the survey done by Ian as he uncovered so many more including indications of structural failings. He was very patient and thorough, and took the time to explain everything on the phone as well as in the report, and it needed a lot more work than I had budgeted for. His experience in older houses is clear to see, including the need for maintenance, wall and chimney breathability and ventilation and the right plaster being used. He saved me from making a very costly mistake and having to live in a building site had I been able to even afford all the work. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his services.

Had a survey done for a lease extension earlier this year. Ian was very helpful and informative. Recently had a query that I wasn’t sure whether it was their area and if they could help me with it. Sladden and Barton Surveyors provided me with an excellent and comprehensive report about the property I was intending to purchase in Brackley. This was an older property with a range of issues that would need to be resolved. I was given professional advice on what needed to be done after highlighting everything that was wrong with the property. Ian was excellent. Arrived on time, did a thorough survey, explained everything and answered all my questions. The EPC report itself was very useful. As well as qualifying me for heat pump grant it explained clearly what other steps I could take to improve energy efficiency. Very happy to recommend.

Brilliant service from start to finish. Ian and Karen are such friendly and helpful people. Ian completely put our minds at ease following our first offer being accepted on our house (an old property) We had a Level 3 Survey, which returned some very important points, which actually allowed us to have a lower offer accepted on the house. The report was amazingly detailed and thorough inluding photos which we found so useful. We use it regularly now when completing our renovations. Ian has been incredibly helpful, when we have extra questions relating to the survey, his answers are so quick and invaluable. Would recommend Sladdon and Barton to anyone. Thank you!

Sladden and Barton surveyors provided me with services recently. Mr Birdsey was a thorough and extremely professional surveyor who had an eye for detail which led me to withdraw from an earlier property. I would have purchased a nightmare. It was hard but when you realise that buying a home is probably the largest investment you will make, then you must have confidence in those who provide you with their expertise. Mr Ian Birdsey was extremely supportive, the company ethos was to provide quality with excellent communication. The final decision was mine, but I am hoping that this review will ensure Sladden and Barton get the recognition they deserve. A local old school company with values of transparency, friendliness and a very high level of quality in delivering their expert professional services. I highly recommend them.

Ian has been very helpful all the way through the process of getting my new home surveyed. From initial contact to delivery of his report he has responded promptly and clearly to my questions.
His level 2 report was through and clear and he quickly responded to the follow up questions I had.
I would happily recommend him to others and I feel I received good value for money.
